Calligraphy Diploma Icazet
- 2007
- Top: Sülüs and nesih scripts. Bottom: Icazet script. Black soot ink, gold and gouache on ahar paper. Illumination by Ayten Tiryaki. This is a traditional icazet, or Calligraphy Diploma. In it the student writes a text, previously chosen with his/her master, to the best of his/her ability. The teachers of the student then write and sign an authorization on the bottom part, allowing the student to henceforth teach other students and sign his/her own work. In this case the three signatures on the bottom, from right to left, are by Hasan Çelebi, Mohamed Zakariya, and Davut Bektaş.
